We are pleased to announce the “Novel Statistical Methodologies: A Practical Approaches workshop” that will run on the 17th September 2015 at the San Domenico Palace, from 9 am to 12:30.
The workshop will be run by three international experts in statistical methodology and epidemiology: Prof Bianca de Stavola (Professor of Biostatistics, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK); Dr Sonja Swanson (Postdoctoral research fellow, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, US), and Dr Ross Crosby (Director of Biomedical Statistics, Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, Fargo, North Dakota, US).
The workshop will focus on describing, demonstrating, and discussing methodological topics such as causal inference, mediation, and latent structure analyses. The themes we have chosen highlight common methodological techniques and concerns that arise in contemporary eating disorder research. A practical approach will be favoured with examples of how to apply these methods to your own research.
Prof de Stavola will cover mediation with a focus on study design and methods to study mediation. Dr Swanson will cover an introduction to causal inference with a particular focus on causal diagrams and describing confounding bias. Dr Crosby will talk about latent structure models and how to apply these to ED research.
50 places will be available on a first-come first-served basis.
Cost: The workshop will be offered free of charge to PhD students, MD students and graduate students (with a support letter from their supervisor), and at a cost of 50$ for postdoctoral fellows/Faculty/other delegates
